Filament wound tube is a glass-fiber and epoxy composite tube made by winding resin-impregnated reinforcement around a mandrel. It is used when an electrical assembly needs a rigid insulating sleeve with good mechanical strength, dimensional stability and low moisture absorption. The tube can be supplied for electrical protection components and other custom machined parts. As a direct manufacturer and supplier, we provide Filament Wound Tube in made-to-drawing sizes with low minimum order quantities and fast sampling for both prototype and production runs.
When to choose filament wound fiberglass tube
Filament winding is a practical choice for long, concentric tubes and for projects that require repeatable wall thickness. Buyers commonly specify it for fuse assemblies, arrester sleeves, link sticks, earth sticks, spacers, coil forms and other power-protection components. The material can be sawed, cut, drilled and machined; the final process should be checked against the customer’s drawing and tolerance requirements.

|---|---|
| Construction | Glass-fiber reinforcement with epoxy resin; filament-wound structure |
| Outside diameter | 8 mm to 800 mm listed; confirm drawing and tolerance before order |
| Maximum length | Up to 12 m listed; confirm transport and cutting requirements |
| Wall thickness | 0.5 mm to 10 mm listed; thin-wall designs may be reviewed from 0.45 mm |
| Colors | Red, white, light yellow and light green listed; confirm color and batch requirement |
| Customization | Diameter, length, wall thickness, color and machining route can be reviewed from a drawing |
| Existing reference values | Bending strength no less than 150 MPa and perpendicular dielectric strength above 8 kV/mm are stated in the legacy product data. Confirm the test method, specimen direction and acceptance value before use. |
Values in the table are a starting point for technical discussion, not a substitute for an approved datasheet. Please send the required standard, test method, operating temperature, voltage, dimensions and tolerance so the engineering team can confirm the correct grade.
Applications in electrical protection
Typical applications include high- and medium-voltage fuse components, current-limiting fuse boxes, arrester sleeves, insulation supports, spacers, coil forms and custom sleeves for power equipment. For a new design, check dielectric clearance, creepage distance, wall thickness, concentricity, machining allowance, moisture exposure and the assembly’s temperature cycle.

Frequently asked questions
What is a filament wound tube?
It is made by winding continuous glass fiber impregnated with epoxy or other resin around a mandrel, then curing, giving high strength-to-weight and consistent electrical insulation.
Where are filament wound tubes used?
They are used in fuse bodies, insulation structures, shafts and mechanical-electrical parts that need high hoop strength and low weight.
Filament wound tube built to your winding specification, not a stock range
Filament winding is a process rather than a stock item. Winding angle, glass content, resin system and cure schedule together decide hoop strength, wall concentricity and behaviour under electrical load. A trader can only offer angles someone else has already booked. We wind on our own mandrels to the specification your design calls for, whether that is a standard lay-up or a revision.
- Direct plant pricing on filament wound tube, wound to your specification
- Low minimum order so a new winding angle can be trialled before commitment
- Wall thickness, concentricity and mandrel-matched bore held to the drawing
- ISO 9001 control over winding, resin mixing and cure
- SGS material testing available on the cured laminate
- RoHS and REACH documentation on request
Filament wound tube: ordering and technical support
Is there a minimum order for a new filament wound tube specification?
Low volumes and prototype runs are accepted, so a new winding angle or wall thickness can be evaluated before you commit to production quantities.
Which certifications cover the filament winding process?
Filament winding runs under an ISO 9001 quality system, and SGS material testing is available for the cured laminate. RoHS and REACH compliance documents are issued on request.
How fast is a filament wound tube quoted?
Engineering reviews your drawing, winding specification and quantity and answers within one working day; the quotation follows immediately afterwards.
